“…in about 1991 when I was Property Manager at Wherry Housing in Norwich I set up three maintenance contracts using the NSR. As good as they are I found that they were an overkill for the many repetitive repair jobs carried out within social housing. I made a case to NSR management for a composite schedule that I felt would benefit all parties involved in housing maintenance and eventually in the mid 1990’s they agreed to trial it. I recall speaking about the benefits of a composite SOR at a meeting in London on a day when the tube was on strike and unable to get a taxi I arrived at the venue on time after a long but brisk walk. I have always been a great supporter of the NSR and Term Contracts as to me it is the simplest and fairest of contracts for both client and contractor. Well done, it is good to see the ongoing success of NSR.”

NHS Lothian Health Trust decided they would like to implement the use of the NSR Schedules starting with Housing and the Building Schedule. They decided to use eNeStimator online and organised several in house training days for themselves and their contractors on the implementation of the Schedules and data. “This has now been in place for some time and has proven to be a success from the contractor point of view when preparing estimates for work, plus the NHS Lothian Health Trust has this system in place which stands up to audit proving that we are making the best use of public money.

As a client organisation responsible for a large and varied Estate, we would not be able to fulfil our obligations without using Measured Term Contracts and the National Schedules of Rates. By working closely with our contractors, we are able to offer our internal customers a quick, efficient service and the use of the National Schedules provides a certainty of cost that fulfils all of the requirements of Standing Orders.

“We are a software house and have been involved with NSR Management since 1999. They have always been very helpful with any queries that we have raised and have answered them promptly. It generates confidence to know that their support is excellent.

“Our User base consists of clients and contractors working on a variety of Measured Term Contracts. They all sing the praises of the National Schedules especially regarding their content being very comprehensive and having fair prices for both client and contractor. The annual updating of the schedules in August ensures that the prices are current and companies with a three year data licence are entitled to all annual updates within the three year period.

“It is very good to have a range of schedules covering the main disciplines of Building, Painting and Decorating, Mechanical and Electrical works and also Housing, Access Audit and Highways. A very comprehensive set of books.”

After being awarded a major contract with a local authority, we researched the most efficient way in which to produce our invoices using the National Schedule of Rates. We were already using the book version of the National Schedule of Rates but felt that this was not the most productive way to progress. We found NSR Management to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable and purchased eNeStimator.

The NSR Training course is great for CPD at any level – offers good practical knowledge and examples of scenarios where SoR will be used with JCT. This helped my understanding on the subject greatly.

Worthwhile efficiencies and savings have been realised by including the NSR SORs in the OJEU procurement exercise for our current frameworks. Contract sums for works not covered by our own decent homes SORs are very quickly obtained using NSR Management’s easy to use on-line system, avoiding lengthy procurement and value for money exercises.

We have therefore committed to using NSR Management for the foreseeable future.
